NBC ANNOUNCES THREE NEW AND RETURNING SERIES PREMIERES FOR SUMMER 2012 SCHEDULE

“Love in the Wild” Returns June 7 (8-10 p.m. ET) while “Saving Hope” (Working Title) Begins June 7 (10-11 p.m. ET) and “American Ninja Warrior” Debuts May 21 (9-11 p.m. ET)

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. – March 15, 2012 – NBC unveiled premiere dates for three new and returning series for Summer 2012 that include the return of “Love in the Wild” (Thursday, June 7, 8-10 p.m. ET), the series debut of “Saving Hope” (working title; Thursday, June 7, 10-11 p.m. ET) and the return of G4’s “American Ninja Warrior” (Monday, May 21, 9-11 p.m. ET).

Following its special two-hour premiere on June 7, “Love in the Wild” will return in its regular time slot on Thursday, June 14 (9-10 p.m. ET). “American Ninja Warrior” will resume in its regular day and time on Monday, May 28 (9-10 p.m. ET). “Saving Hope” will continue in the Thursday (10-11 p.m. ET) time period.

"American Ninja Warrior" will premiere on G4 Sunday, May 20 (9-11 p.m. ET).

The ever-engaging funny woman Jenny McCarthy returns to her hosting roots as she joins NBC’s adventure-dating series “Love in the Wild” as the host for the show’s second season that will feature even wilder adventures. McCarthy will head to the tropical paradise of the Dominican Republic to guide contestants through rigorous adventures as well as the choppy waters of relationships in their quest to find love. The host, best-selling author and activist recently reprised her recurring role on "Two and a Half Men" and re-joined hosts Dick Clark and Ryan Seacrest in reporting live from Times Square on “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest” this past New Year’s.

The Summer 2011 run of "Love in the Wild" averaged a 1.8 rating, 5 share in adults 18-49 and 5.5 million viewers overall. In adults 18-49, “Love in the Wild” finished #1 or tied for #1 in its time period among ABC, CBS and NBC with seven of eight telecasts.

“Love in the Wild” puts relationships to the ultimate test with exhilarating and wild adventures that push participants to the limit, both physically and emotionally. Single men and single women, all looking for love, will experience a romantic quest unlike anything they could have ever imagined. These singles have tried it all -- speed-dating, blind-dating, Internet dating -- and now, they will journey to a tropical paradise to see if they can find that special someone. During elimination, all of the couples will come together to reveal whether a connection has been formed with their current partner -- or if they would like to switch and get to know someone else. At the end of every episode, heartbroken singles are sent home. The series culminates with just one couple left standing. “Love in the Wild” is produced by Endemol USA. Tom Shelly serves as executive producer.

“Saving Hope” is a new, hour-long original drama series that stars Erica Durance (“Smallville”), Michael Shanks (“Stargate Atlantis”), Daniel Gillies (“The Vampire Diaries”), Huse Madhavji (“Combat Hospital,” “Star!” “Daily”), Julia Taylor-Ross (“Rookie Blue”) and Kristopher Turner (“Rookie Blue,” “The Listener”). The series is from acclaimed Gemini Award-winning producers Ilana Frank and David Wellington (“The Eleventh Hour,” “Would Be Kings,” “Rookie Blue”).

In “Saving Hope,” when charismatic Chief of Surgery Charlie Harris (Shanks) at Hope-Zion Hospital ends up in a coma, he leaves the hospital in chaos -- and his fiancée and fellow surgeon, Alex Reid (Durance), in a state of shock. Along with newly arrived star surgeon, Joel Goran (Gillies), Reid races to save Harris' life. As the action unfolds, the comatose Harris explores the hospital halls in “spirit” form, not sure if he's a ghost or a figment of his own imagination. Reid, along with her fellow doctors, press on to save his life and those of their other patients as they deal with the complicated and courageous decisions that are made in their daily struggle to keep hope alive.

“Saving Hope” is produced by Ilana C. Frank Films (ICFF) with Entertainment One (eOne), in association with CTV and NBC. The series is executive-produced by Ilana Frank and David Wellington for ICFF, Noreen Halpern (“Hell on Wheels,” “Call Me Fitz”) and John Morayniss (“The Firm,” “Haven”) for Entertainment One and Lesley Harrison. Executive producers and show-runners are Morwyn Brebner (“Rookie Blue”) and Aaron Martin (“Being Erica”). The series was created by Malcolm MacRury (“Crash and Burn,” “Republic of Doyle”) and Morwyn Brebner. David Wellington directed the pilot.

G4 and NBC team up to air “American Ninja Warrior,” the heart-racing obstacle course competition series with a nationwide search to find the ultimate athlete who will be crowned the first true “American Ninja Warrior.” The networks collaborated with the original Japanese broadcaster, Tokyo Broadcasting System Television (TBS), to bring the competitive course over to the U.S., which is being held entirely on U.S. soil for the first time. Following NBC’s highly rated special airing of the “American Ninja Warrior” finale last summer, G4 and NBC have expanded their collaboration this year to take the worldwide phenomenon to the next level with G4 airing the preliminary rounds while NBC will broadcast the preliminary finals and the grand finale.

Six regional qualifying competitions throughout the country will determine the finalists who will ultimately have a shot at a $500,000 cash prize and the chance to win the coveted “American Ninja Warrior” title in the national finals in Las Vegas. Over the past 15 years, only three competitors have successfully completed the infamous Ninja Warrior course atop Mount Midoriyama, Japan. “American Ninja Warrior” is back to find the toughest, most skilled U.S. competitors and give them a shot at conquering the almost impossible obstacle course.

A. Smith & Co. Productions returns to produce the fourth season of “American Ninja Warrior.” “American Ninja Warrior” is executive-produced by A. Smith & Co. Productions’ founders Arthur Smith and Kent Weed ("Hell's Kitchen," “I Survived a Japanese Game Show,” "Pros vs. Joes"). Holly Wofford and Viki Cacciatore also serve as executive producers.

NBC “Bent” Sneak Peeks, Cast Interviews, Promo

Here are several videos which include sneak peeks and cast interviews for the new NBC series “Bent” which will premiere on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at 9PM ET on NBC. Please note: These videos were provided by NBC for promotional purposes only; the episode preview clips have a limited life so catch them while you can!

Please note: I am sorry, but the videos are no longer available.

Series Overview
“Bent" is a romantic comedy about a womanizing, surfer dude contractor and his beautiful, no-nonsense, type-A client, who work together to remodel each other’s lives as they renovate her Venice, California home. On the surface, Alex (Amanda Peet, "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip") and Pete (David Walton, "Perfect Couples") could not be more different. The recently divorced Alex is a hard-working, high-strung lawyer who is raising her 10-year-old daughter, Charlie (Joey King, "Ramona and Beezus") as a single mom following her husband’s incarceration for insider trading. Unwilling to let anything get in her way, she downsizes into a smaller house and hires charismatic Pete, a free-spirited ladies man and recovering gambling addict who desperately needs this gig with Alex to jumpstart his life -- and prove that he is no longer a screw-up. Upon hiring him, Alex quickly realizes that she has met her match in Pete, who -- along with his motley construction crew – will not only tear apart her kitchen, but transform her worldview in the process.

Adding to the charm of Alex's family life is her wild younger sister, Screwsie (Margo Harshman, "Sorority Row"), who, unfortunately for Alex, seems to be cut from the same reckless cloth as Pete. Meanwhile, Pete’s home life includes his narcissistic, live-in father, Walt (Jeffrey Tambor, "Arrested Development"), a perpetually unemployed actor who still yearns to get back in the game. The single-camera comedy from writer and executive producer Tad Quill ("Scrubs," "Spin City") and director Craig Zisk ("Nurse Jackie," "Weeds") will show that these resilient characters are "bent, not broken." The series is produced by Universal Television and Rosalita Productions Inc.

Peter O'Toole Takes Center Stage in New TCM Special Peter O'Toole: Live from the TCM Classic Film Festival

Turner Classic Movies (TCM) Press Release
Release Date: 3/14/2012

Peter O'Toole Takes Center Stage in New TCM Special Peter O'Toole: Live from the TCM Classic Film Festival

As a prelude to the opening of the 2012 TCM Classic Film Festival, Turner Classic Movies (TCM) will air a special on-air tribute to eight-time Oscar® nominee and honorary Academy Award® recipient Peter O'Toole, who took center stage at last year's festival. On Wednesday, April 11, TCM will premiere Peter O'Toole: Live from the TCM Classic Film Festival, a one-hour special taped at the 2011 festival in which TCM host Robert Osborne interviews the legendary actor in front of an audience of festival attendees.

Peter O'Toole: Live from the TCM Classic Film Festival is set to premiere at 8 p.m. (ET). The special will be followed by three O'Toole classics. The following is the complete schedule for the evening (all times Eastern):

8 p.m. – Peter O'Toole: Live from the TCM Classic Film Festival(2012) – Premiere
9 p.m. – The Lion in Winter (1968)
11:30 p.m. – Peter O'Toole: Live from the TCM Film Festival (2012) – Encore
12:30 a.m. – Lawrence of Arabia (1962)
4:30 a.m. – The Day They Robbed The Bank of England (1960)

“We all have our favorite actors, and when people ask me about mine, one name I always mention is Peter O’Toole,” Osborne says in his introduction to the special. “He’s not only a favorite actor but a great actor.”

Osborne goes on to say, “It’s no secret Peter O’Toole is a very private man, so we were especially pleased when he accepted our invitation to fly from his home in London to join us at the second TCM Classic Film Festival in Hollywood. During his visit, he was given the rare honor of placing his hand and footprints in the forecourt of Grauman’s Chinese Theatre. I was very pleased to host the ceremony, which was attended by many of Peter’s friends, his family and his fans. Then Peter and I sat down for an in-depth interview in front of a live audience. He was charming, delightful, classy, very funny and a perfect guest. We had a wonderful time.”

In the special, O’Toole keeps the audience enraptured with stories from his life and career. He recalls his earliest memories of going to the movies as a child, an activity usually prefaced with a milkshake. He remembers his earliest movie experience was going to see the Marx Brothers in A Day at the Races (1937) with his father, a racing bookie. He also talks about his first career as a journalist, his stint in the Royal Navy during the Korean War and his decision to become an actor.

Osborne and O’Toole then launch into a detailed discussion about his film career, beginning with some memorable words he received from director David Lean during his first day on the set of Lawrence of Arabia: “Pete, this is the beginning of a great adventure."

The special wraps with O'Toole providing his personal definition of acting: "In the beginning was the word and the word was made flesh. That is, to me, is what acting is. You make the words flesh."

Peter O’Toole Biography
O’Toole was born in County Galway, Ireland, and grew up in Leeds, England, the son of a bookmaker father and a Scottish-born nurse mother. After service in the Royal Navy, he became interested in theatre and acting and was accepted by the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.

O’Toole was in repertory at the Bristol Old Vic for three years. Followed by work at the Royal Court with the other so-called ‘angries’ and then at Stratford playing Shakespeare where, at the age of 27, his ‘Shylock’ was hailed by press and public as the finest of his generation, perhaps even of the century. Prior to Stratford he had played in a film called The Day They Robbed the Bank of England (1960). This film was seen by David Lean’s brother-in-law who told Lean, “I’ve seen the man who could play Lawrence of Arabia”. Lean then telephoned O’Toole in Stratford. They met in London. Lean offered O’Toole the part of T.E. Lawrence in Lawrence of Arabia. In the first major screen role of O’Toole’s career, the golden-haired, blue-eyed actor made a powerful impact on audiences as the conflicted British liaison officer caught at the center of an Arab revolt. The film also marked O’Toole’s first Oscar nomination.

Over the next 10 years, he would garner a string of nominations for performances in Becket (1964) and The Lion in Winter (1968), as well as the musical version of Goodbye, Mr. Chips (1969) and the wildly offbeat comedy The Ruling Class (1972).

O’Toole garnered his sixth Oscar nomination as a tyrannical director in The Stunt Man (1980). Two years later, he received a seventh nomination for his funny-yet-touching performance in the nostalgic My Favorite Year (1982), in which he plays a former screen idol brought out of the woodwork to guest-star on a live television comedy show in the 1950s. Since then, he has co-starred in a wide range of films, including Bernardo Bertolucci’s Oscar-winning film The Last Emperor (1987), the comedy hit King Ralph (1991) and the epic blockbuster Troy (2004).

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences bestowed its Lifetime Achievement Award on O’Toole in 2003. Four years later, he was back at the Oscars with his eighth Best Actor nomination for the May-December romance Venus (2006). He continues to be extremely active, with such recent credits as Ratatouille (2007), Stardust (2007), Dean Spanley (2008), Christmas Cottage (2008) and the popular television series The Tudors.

Throughout his film career O’Toole has continued his theatre work, averaging a play every two years. He retired from the stage in 1999.
